Stable, Testing, or Unstable
Testing — Active Development
The future Stable release in active development. More current software than Stable, but packages are not yet fully vetted. Suitable for experienced users who need newer software but can handle occasional breakage.
Unstable (Sid) — Bleeding Edge
The continuous development branch. Software enters the Debian ecosystem here first. Not recommended for production or Live USB use — breakage is expected and accepted.
